Commenting on the re-election of Nikiforos Diamandouros as European Ombudsman, Diana Wallis MEP, a member of the Parliament's Petitions Committee, said in Strasbourg today:

"I am delighted that Nikiforos Diamandouros has been re-elected as European Ombudsman. I supported him to continue in the role. In my opinion he has done a good job building up a network with Ombudsmen and national mediators across the EU and worked extremely well with them. Also I think he has done some excellent work across the EU institutions."
